OWNERSHIP WITH GEORGE – THE LOWDOWN
-
How will I be kept informed about my horse’s progress? You will receive regular updates from George – and he is always available on the phone should you require additional information at any stage. You will also be sent jpeg images from the gallops and the stable. We are planning to supply video clips, as well.
-
Can I speak to the trainer?Absolutely. George is happy to talk to all of his owners on a regular basis. Please feel free to call him whenever you wish.
-
Where will my horse be trained?Newmarket is the historic home of horseracing and has mile after mile of superbly-maintained exercise grounds. There are all-weather surfaces, as well as some of the most famous turf gallops in the world.
-
I am interested in getting involved in a racehorse – is there anything available?Depending on the time of year, the likelihood is we will have a horse for sale – or involvement in a partnership. If we haven’t, we are always pleased to meet you and discuss the type of ownership that we offer (individual ownership, partnerships and syndicate opportunities). As a first port of call, check out our ‘Available Horses’ link – or call George on 07709 409068.
-
If my horse gets injured, is there a vet nearby?"The huge equine industry in and around Newmarket ensures the best infrastructural support. We have a Vet visit us regularly through the week to assist with routine care – and there is a state-of-the-art equine hospital on the edge of the town, plus an array of specialists. We really couldn’t be better served in this respect.
-
Can I get tickets to the races? If you own a horse outright, you can always get a number of premier tickets for each race that he/she contests. Just about all racetracks offer ownership facilities where you are able to base yourself, if you wish, on race-day. If you are involved in a small partnership of people, we should nearly always be able to secure a pair of badges for you to watch your horse in competitive action. If you belong to a syndicate, we will get a certain number of tickets from the racecourse and will ensure that they are handed out on a rotational basis to ensure you get the chance to go and enjoy the ownership experience at the racecourse. Be assured, that we will always try our best for you in terms of badges/tickets when your horse is racing.
-
How can I stay up to date with stable news?Stable news will be provided at the bottom of the individual owner reports that we will regularly send you. Alternatively, you may wish to check out George Scott Racing on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
-
How do I register my horse and choose his colours?Horseracing in Great Britain is administered by a specialist business called Weatherby’s. Our office liaises with them in relation to the registration of owners, horses, silks, entries, declarations and prize money – as well as lots of other aspects related to the business of horseracing. So, in relation to all the administrative needs for owning a racehorse, our office will liaise with you to ensure that everything is in order and up to date.
-
Who will ride my horse? At present, we do not have a stable jockey but have a strong association with several leading riders, many of whom are available to come in and ride work, especially ahead of a big race.
-
Am I able to visit my horse at the stables?Yes – as often as you want. One of the best things about having a horse trained in Newmarket is stepping out on the famous Newmarket Heath to watch morning exercise. We think it’s one of the greatest pleasures in the world – that’s why we do our job! We would love to share the experience as often as possible with you.
-
Why choose George as your trainer?George offers a range of skills that all add up to a great value for money experience. Of course, owning a racehorse has a cost. But we will do our best at every turn to make sure it's a fun experience with regular correspondence and interaction. Winning makes everything more fun, so you can rest assured that we will be doing our level best every day to try and achieve this for you!
